I didn’t always believe it was possible for me to make a career out of dance. As a late bloomer who started training in dance at 15 years old, I was filled with insecurities.
“I’m not classically trained, I’ve got bad feet, I’m not flexible.”.
The list went on and on which made me doubt myself and my capabilities.
The more I pursued dance, the more the reality of this industry kicked in. Auditions made me nervous, rejection made me sad, and financial instability made me worry. I felt stuck. I was training a bunch but I wasn’t seeing the results I dreamed of… until I realized I was way more in control of my future than I was led to believe.
Through trial and error and with the help of multiple mentors, I gained the knowledge and acquired the tools needed to curate a winning mindset. I built my brand, I practiced networking, I prioritized self-love, I stepped out of my comfort zone, I aimed for financial stability and career longevity.
That’s when the magic began.
I started getting noticed, I won scholarships, I got hired at auditions, I connected with choreographers I idolized, I was paid to travel for dance. I had done it! Not only did I become a professional dancer, but dance became my one and only stream of income. I was constantly booking jobs and creating new and exciting opportunities for myself. I still am.
